Animal Tether Ordinance – Attention Pet Owners
Posted on January 21st, 2012 by Webmaster
Everyone should be aware of the new Animal Tether Ordinance which was recently passed in Escambia County. Pet owners should review the ordinance carefully to ensure they are not in violation of the new laws. This ordinance covers such subjects as animal age, shelter conditions, tether construction and length, weather conditions, and more.
To read the Animal Tether Ordinance, follow the link below. From there, you can save or print the file for your own records.

FYI: Nuisance Dog Barking

Silence Is Golden
In many cases, nuisance barking is caused by dogs which are neglected or in distress. If you experience nuisance barking from a neighbor's dog, please report it to the local animal control unit.
If you are a dog owner whose dog barks excessively, please take steps to train your pet to not nuisance bark. There are many safe and humane products on the market which control nuisance barking. Consult your local pet store for the best training method for your pet. Your neighbors will appreciate it.

My favorite barking control device, which I personally found to be very effective, is the PetSafe Outdoor Ultrasonic Bark Deterrent. This unit works automatically by emitting a high-frequency sound each time a dog barks within it's range. The ultrasonic bark deterrent is safe, humane, silent to humans, weather resistant, and designed to look like a cute, little birdhouse.
Not only can the PetSafe Outdoor Ultrasonic Bark Deterrent work on your own dogs, but it can also work on any other dogs within range.

The PetSafe Outdoor Ultrasonic Bark Deterrent requires a 9-volt battery.

November Meeting
Posted on November 5th, 2011 by ClayIt is time for our monthly meeting. It will be this coming Monday. It has been requested that we move into the church due to the weather getting colder. I will be sending out emails as soon as I get back to Florida.
October Meeting
Posted on September 30th, 2011 by ClayHello neighbors!
It is that time of month again. I have not received any information about holding the meeting at the church so I am planning to do it at the park as usual. I am moving the time up to 6pm so it doesn't get dark on us. The weather has been nice in the evenings so I think it will be just fine for us to use. If it is raining or threatening weather, I will send out an email with further instructions. Hope to see everyone there October 3rd. We will be discussing a garage sale for funds, school bus patrol, area clean up, and we may have a speaker (not determined yet). If there are any problems with the time change please email me.
Vehicle Break In
Posted on September 22nd, 2011 by ClayAround the middle of this month a vehicle was broken into on the 8200 block of Fathom Rd. So far it is the only problem in our watch area with the exception of the Circle K. Good news is there has not been any violence there this month! they have had a few shoplifters but a major reduction in their crime level.
Garage Sale
Posted on September 22nd, 2011 by ClaySeveral neighbors on Squire Road are planning yard sales this weekend Sept 24 2011. Anyone interested in joining them contact Mrs Bott 478-3468
September Meeting
Posted on August 22nd, 2011 by ClayHello Neighbors!
As you probably have noticed (I didn't, thanks for the reminders), the meeting this coming month will be held on Labor Day. Just kidding, we will be holding the meeting on the 12th at 6:30 as usual. With all the possible weather, we will hold our meeting at the church if it is raining. I have never held a meeting at the church before. Do we need to contact anyone and tell them? Any advice on this would be appreciated. As always, visit www.crimereports.com for up to date crime reports anytime, I will have it at our next meeting as I did last one. It looks like we are maintaining our standards and keeping crime out of our neighborhood. Again though, the Circle K across from Harbour Square and Old Spanish Trail has been hit with serious crime including vehicle theft and assault with a deadly weapon. Surely there is something we can do to remove this blemish from our map. Any ideas are appreciated. I have not been in contact with the surrounding community as I had wished (lots of travel this month), but I will continue this effort as I feel it will help ours in the long run. Thank you.
August Meeting
Posted on August 1st, 2011 by ClayIn my haste I made an error in my last post. Our meeting will not be held "early in the morning" as stated. Not sure where my mind was, probably mowing grass. Our meeting will be this evening at 6:30 like normal.
