Animal Tether Ordinance – Attention Pet Owners
Posted on January 21st, 2012 by Webmaster
Everyone should be aware of the new Animal Tether Ordinance which was recently passed in Escambia County. Pet owners should review the ordinance carefully to ensure they are not in violation of the new laws. This ordinance covers such subjects as animal age, shelter conditions, tether construction and length, weather conditions, and more.

FYI: Nuisance Dog Barking

Silence Is Golden
In many cases, nuisance barking is caused by dogs which are neglected or in distress. If you experience nuisance barking from a neighbor's dog, please report it to the local animal control unit.
If you are a dog owner whose dog barks excessively, please take steps to train your pet to not nuisance bark. There are many safe and humane products on the market which control nuisance barking. Consult your local pet store for the best training method for your pet. Your neighbors will appreciate it.

My favorite barking control device, which I personally found to be very effective, is the PetSafe Outdoor Ultrasonic Bark Deterrent. This unit works automatically by emitting a high-frequency sound each time a dog barks within it's range. The ultrasonic bark deterrent is safe, humane, silent to humans, weather resistant, and designed to look like a cute, little birdhouse.
Not only can the PetSafe Outdoor Ultrasonic Bark Deterrent work on your own dogs, but it can also work on any other dogs within range.

Tips From The Webmaster – Basic Computer Security At Home And Beyond

Have you ever been in the checkout line of a store and had the cashier ask you for your phone number or address? Did you respond by providing your personal information? If you did, you may have inadvertently opted-in to be solicited by third-party vendors, the store's marketing partners, or even worse. Unless you're writing a check for payment or applying for other services, there's really no need for the cashier (or the person standing in line behind you) to have access to your personal data. You are free to decline the request and may avoid a future full of mail fliers and phone solicitations in the process.
Defensive thinking and common sense can help keep your personal data and yourself more secure. This applies not only in real-world situations, but also in the virtual worlds of computers and the Internet.
Below, I am going to list some important things that you should know about your computer, your network, and the Internet. My goal is to help you to keep yourself and your data more secure while you're computing. My focus will be on Windows operating systems as they are most widely used and most insecure.
