Burglary

Posted on May 10th, 2011 by roselyn

Hello Neighborhood Watch Members,

Another daytime burglary occurred yesterday at Harbor Square Dr. and Lighthouse.  It happened between 9 and 10 am while the homeowner was away.  A neighbor saw a small white pickup with two males in it around the time of the burglary.  The pickup has NOT been confirmed as being involved in the burglary.

The above is all the information I have.  Please everyone!  Look outside, watch out for your neighbor's houses and ask them to watch out for your home.  Be aware of what is normal and take note when you see something not normal.  Lock your home thoroughly including back windows when you leave.  Use your deadbolts.  Close your garage doors.  And keep an eye on folks you see going door to door, they may be looking for yet another empty home to burglarize.

Thank you,

Roselyn Johnson, President

Another Break-in

Posted on May 5th, 2011 by roselyn

Hello Neighborhood Watch Members

There was another incident of breaking and entering last night at the southern end of Tradewinds Dr.  I do not know the particulars but was alerted to it by a RPNW member and it is shown on the crime map:  http://www.crimereports.com/ (search Pensacola) or http://www.pensacolapolice.com/details.asp?pID=16315.  Last night I also received a report of the theft of a wheelbarrow from a front yard near Lighthouse and Harbor Square Dr.

Everyone!  Our Neighborhood Watch needs to be visible and active!  We cannot stop all crime but we can be a deterrent IF the criminals know we are here.  The steps we can take are simple but effective:

- Be visible.  If you have a RPNW t-shirt wear it even if you are just working on your front lawn.  Put a Neighborhood Watch sticker on your window (I have extra).
- Be visible.  Wave to strange cars driving past and note what they look like.  Let them know they've been noticed going through our neighborhood.
- Be heard.  Call the ESCO at 436-9620 if you see suspicious activity.
- Be active.  Drive or walk parts of the Neighborhood Watch area to look for suspicious activity.  Carry your cell phone and program in the ECSO number.
- Be watchful.  Know what is normal at your neighbors homes and be vigilant for unusual activity.  Know your neighbors!  Look outside!
- Be smart.  Lock your home.  Use your deadbolts.  Lock your windows.  Close your garage door.  Lock your car and leave nothing visible.  Be cautious answering the door for strangers.  Light up the night - turn on your outside lights.

Together we can be the eyes and ears of the Sheriff's Department and can kick crime out of our neighborhood.

Thank you, Roselyn

Suspicious Solicitors

Posted on May 3rd, 2011 by roselyn
Hello Neighborhood Watch Members,

Lonnie Jones (VP) received a report about another suspicious solicitor yesterday.  A man in a suit was trying to demonstrate Gain Washing Detergent around sundown on Squire Rd.  While he was in a suit he had no briefcase or sample case.

Please keep an eye out for suspicious solicitors and if they don't appear right you can call ECSO dispatch at 436-9620 and report a suspicious person.  Please have as detailed a description as possible but please report it!

Thank you, Roselyn

Newsletter August 2010

Posted on October 4th, 2010 by Chris Webster

REGENCY PARK NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH NEWSLETTER:

NewsletterGreetings neighbors… big news! RPNW elected new officers, and they “officially” assume their roles September 7th.

NEW OFFICERS: Congratulations to President-elect Mart Hearn (474-1339 or ), Vice-president elect Lonnie Jones (572-8747 or ), Secretary-elect Nancy McWhirter (484-2670 or ), and Treasurer Tamara Hurst (478-4915 or

WARNING: Recently a suspicious man knocked on one of our neighbor’s doors, and claimed he was selling educational books for children. The problem? Companies rarely send solicitors out at 9 o’clock at night. This smart neighbor called the cops, and now the Sheriff’s office is investigating the case.

Tip: Don’t open your door to solicitors, particularly at night. Some are legitimate, but many or not!

PARK UPDATE: Parks and Recreation repaired the two posts at the entrance gate to the park. They also relocated the baseball backstop to a different area of the park, because YOU asked for it. Keep your fingers crossed about the dog park! Officials are discussing the idea.

NEW MEMBER: A big welcome to Joe Holmes, our newest member! We’re already putting him to work. Joe volunteered for gate duty. Thank you very much Joe! We’re looking forward to having you on board.

Hope to see you all at our next meeting (Tuesday, September 7th), and keep up the patrols.

Tessa Webster

Another Attempted Break-in

Posted on March 4th, 2010 by roselyn

Monday night, March 1st, there was another attempted break-in, this time on Sharkhead.  The homeowner was home and had their alarm system armed.  The alarm scared the burglars away but not before they stole the meeting reminder sign which was also on Sharkhead.
